New year, new service

A little less than two years ago, we introduced PRF (platelet rich fibrin) EZGEL to Trouvé. While researching, we discovered that the release of growth factors from PRF treatments was for a longer duration and provided better outcomes compared to PRP (platelet rich plasma). This idea of releasing 4-5x your normal amount of platelet derived growth factors into an area of the face, like the under eyes or hair, for a longer period of time meant more opportunity for collagen and elastin stimulation.

PRF was, and still is, very well received by our patients.  However, after Trouvé has performed hundreds of treatments, we’ve found not everyone’s results are as impactful or ‘before & after’ picture worthy.

Why is that?

Well, based on age, lifestyle, and health status, the amount of platelets provided in a sample varies dramatically from person to person–and even from one day to the next. I can personally testify to this. After a long day of not drinking much water, eating a lot of Halloween candy, and having raised cortisol levels from stress, my PRF samples have sometimes fallen short I also can’t say my growth factors are getting better as I age 🙁.

Until recently, we didn’t have other choices that were better or safer. But now we do! When patients haven’t had the PRF results that we were hoping for, or maybe I can’t even get their blood drawn because their veins are difficult to find, I want to give them a better result as long as it’s SAFE and effective to do so.

So in the last few months, I have diligently researched PDGF (platelet derived growth factors) and learned about a product called Ariessence. This human recombinant manufactured product is available in the U.S. and is FDA-approved. Come to find out, it has been used extensively the last 15 years in oral maxillary surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, and diabetic wound management for over 5 million patients. And now it’s available in the aesthetic market!

Ariessence mimics our own PDGF, is sterile, provides no human DNA transfer, and is heavily regulated by the FDA. If you know how insulin is made in a lab, it’s made in a similar method;  using recombinant technology to give us a medicine that isn’t derived from an animal or human.

I love that it's consistently predictable, requires no blood draw, and provides a ton more growth factors compared to our PRF…I mean an obscene amount more. While a regular PRF sample gives 4-5x more growth factors on a good day, Ariessence PDGF gives anywhere from 1,000 - 300,000x more growth factors!

It’s currently on-label to apply to open skin post Halo or microneedling. Not only will it speed up healing like nothing we’ve seen before, but the type I collagen, type III collagen, and hyaluronic acid increase in the tissue is 200%- 800% more per treatment!

I think this is only the tip of the iceberg with what’s to come in aesthetic/regenerative medicine. We all want results with minimal downtime, minimal treatment sessions, and minimal risk. Well, I’m excited to say that I think Ariessence is the start of something innovative as more applications will be available on-label and off-label as aesthetic practitioners across the country continue to explore its capabilities.

Stay tuned!
