The quest for glowing skin

In the quest for glowing skin, chemical peels have always been a popular and effective option. From helping with texture and improving fine lines/wrinkles, these treatments offer a range of benefits. Depending on your skin type and concern, there are three types of chemical peels: superficial, medium and deep. Each type targets different skin concerns and varies in downtime.

Chemical peels offer a variety of benefits for achieving healthy and glowy skin by promoting cell turnover. By exfoliating the outer layers, this helps enhance skin texture, making your skin much smoother and more even toned. This process also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by removing the damaged skin. Chemical peels also target hyperpigmentation, age spots and sun damage, resulting in a more radiant and even skin tone. For those struggling with acne, peels can help reduce breakouts, while also diminishing acne scars over time. Lastly, for our advent skincare users, peels help clear away dead skin cells which then help to improve the absorption of your skincare products, maximizing their effectiveness.

There are three levels of a chemical peel: superficial, medium and deep. All three strengths penetrate at a different level, targeting different skin concerns. To know which strength is best for you, always consult with an esthetician.

Superficial (light) peels are the mildest form of chemical peels that target the outer layer of skin, which is called the epidermis. These peels are great for anyone with concerns of dull skin or looking for a light exfoliation. You should expect very minimal to no downtime with this treatment and can be done right before an event for glowy skin!

Medium peels can help improve fine lines, acne, texture, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and more. Medium peels are working at a deeper level than a light peel, which is called the dermis. Expect about 3-5 days of “social downtime” with a medium strength peel.

Deep peels are of course, going to work at a deeper level than a medium peel. A deep peel is going to help improve acne, melasma, sun damage and more. You can expect your downtime to be a little bit longer than a medium peel, with about 7-10 days of peeling.

While chemical peels can be amazing and we love them, it’s always advised that you consult with an esthetician to know if it’s the right treatment for you!
